Welcome to International Conference on Building Materials 2024 (ICBM2024)

“Building Materials in the 21st Century

Building materials play key roles in construction of infrastructures, houses, buildings, and all types of other construction works. Manufacturing industry and trade of building materials influence the economy, environment, and society nationwide and worldwide.

The 21st Century has commenced and undergone for 23 years now and still has 77 upcoming years ahead. Let’s have a review on what human beings have done so far and what we plan to do for the rest of this 21st century with building materials.

In the last 23 years, Vietnam has become one of the countries having the largest production of building materials in the world. In 2023, the production capacities of main building materials are over 100 million tons of cement, over 750 million m2 ceramic tiles, 18 million sanitary ware products, 300 million m2 glass products, 20 billion fired clay bricks, 10 billion unfired cement-based blocks, 250.000 tons of refractory products, 300 million litres of paints, etc. Vietnamese cement production has developed to the third largest in the cement industry in the world.

The development of building materials requires the application of science and technologies to minimize using natural minerals, maximize using industrial by-products, save energy, protect environment, and create more sustainable building material products.

This is our honour and great pleasure to invite you to attend the International Conference on Building Materials 2024 (ICBM2024) with the topic “Building Materials in the 21st Century” which will be held from the 31st of October to the 03rd November 2024.

The main conference’s themes include: cement, concrete, refractory materials, fire-resistant materials, paints, glass, product quality testing methods, environmental protection and recycling wastes in building material industry. The conference is a diversified-topic forum for international and Vietnamese researchers, academics, industry professionals, experts and policy makers etc. to share their views, and to learn from others about recent and current developments in science and technology of building materials in the 21st century and also to discuss actions required for forthcoming building materials as well as construction development in the future.

The conference is organized by Vietnam Institute for Building Materials (VIBM) and under the auspices of the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam. This conference is also the formal event linked with the Celebration of the 55th Anniversary of VIBM’s Establishment (04 November 1969 - 04 November 2024). The proceeding of ICBM2024 is going to be published by Springer Nature as "Proceedings of the International Conference on Building Materials; ICBM2024, 31Oct -03Nov; Hanoi, Vietnam: Building Materials in the 21st century".

Participating in ICBM2024, you will not only acquire useful updated information about the ongoing experiences and development trends of building materials for now and the future, but this will also be an opportunity for you and your companions to visit the economic, cultural, and political capital Hanoi and other beautiful areas of Vietnam.

We do look forward to welcoming you and your contribution at the ICBM2024 Building Materials in the 21st Century in Hanoi.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the ICBM2024 Building Materials in the 21st Century.
